Post AGM Notice

Dear Members,

Thank you so much for your attendance and support, in such excellent numbers, for our AGM last Thursday.  It was very different to the AGMs and annual lunches in previous years but I hope you found it an uplifting and cheerful occasion. We were also honoured by the presence of High Commissioner Manoah Esipisu who, apart from an outstanding address, took questions with frankness and good humour from our Deputy Chairman, Juvenal Shiundu who was in Mumias!   We then had a marvelous and entertaining interlude with the Nairobi-based DJ David Muriithi –  a perfect way to end our occasion with Kenya music and even some on-line dancing!

For me the event was tinged with sadness with the demise, since our last meeting, of three stalwart members who we will miss dreadfully – Girish Raval, Wangula Khasiani, and John Small. They epitomize everything that our Society is about – different people from different communities, drawn together by a shared love of Kenya.

The High Commissioner mentioned the new trade agreement between Kenya and the UK, negotiated as Britain leaves the European Union, and the UK–Kenya Strategic Partnership – with Kenya and the UK working together for the next five years on a number of major objectives which includes People to People Engagement. This may well be an opportunity for your Society to play a special role,  so there is much to look forward to. Exciting times indeed!

My best wishes to you all – Kenya Juu!
