Thank you for joining us as we celebrated the Kenya Society’s 30th Anniversary Lunch at the Royal Over-Seas League, last Tuesday 23 July. It was a pleasure to see you all, and we hope you had a wonderful time.
Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, HE Manoah Esipisu sent a message of good will from our Patron, HE President Uhuru Kenyatta. Balozi Esipisu also appreciated the role the Society plays in strengthening the historic and current ties that bind Kenya and the UK. He spoke about some topical matters like the Big 4 Agenda, commencement of the ePassport, peace and security as pillars for Regional Integration, and the Maritime dispute between Kenya and Somalia.
Our founder, Dr Sally Kosgei EGH gave a witty recollection of her time as a young female High Commissioner in a predominantly male environment, and shared her vision for setting up the Kenya Society, at a time when there wasn’t much objective information on Kenya and few Kenyans in the Diaspora. She reminded us, 30 years later, the Society is still going strong due to our faithful members and the Committee, and we reiterate our appreciation to you for your support, and for bringing so much festive energy to our events.
A very special thank you, also, to those of you who contributed such wonderful gifts towards the raffle draw. This included a prize for a four night stay for 8 at a luxury Private Beach House along Kenya’s white sandy beaches in Msambweni, Kwale County.
We wish to see the Society forever flourishing – and are looking forward to our next event with you. Meanwhile, here are some photos from the 30th anniversary lunch for you to enjoy.
