It was a splendid and very Kenya welcome for Kenya’s new High Commissioner to the UK, Manoah Esipisu, at our reception for him on Tuesday. As I said, this was the first function for him, after being in London for less than a week – and therefore a great honour for our Society.
The High Commissioner, who knows London well having worked for six years for the Commonwealth Secretariat a decade ago, emphasised that “we have a strong relationship and bond. In my view, the task of Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom is to advance Kenya’s interests in alliance with one of its oldest friends.”
He stressed that one of the core objectives of his mission in London was “to see more UK companies investing in Kenya to strengthen the already flourishing economic relations, and to take advantage of Kenya’s greatly improving business environment.”
The function was sponsored by the international law firm, Stephenson Harwood, and by the Royal Over-Seas League which hosted the reception. We are very grateful to them for their generosity and contribution to this exceptional occasion.
