I was the British High Commissioner in Kenya from 1997 to 2001 at the end of a long career in the Diplomatic Service and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of getting to know Kenya and Kenyans well.

After my retirement, I have maintained my keen interest in the political, economic and cultural aspects of Kenya, with a particular focus on environmental and conservation issues.

I continue to visit Kenya from time to time and am also involved in the British Institute in Eastern Africa and the Eastern African Association, both of which are active in Nairobi.

I value the Kenya Society as a way of bringing together friends with a mutual interest in Kenya, which includes many Kenyans of course!
