About us

The Kenya Society was founded in 1989 by Dr Sally Kosgei, then Kenyan High Commissioner to London, to foster good relations between the peoples of the United Kingdom and Kenya.

We provide a forum for British people with an interest in Kenya to better understand developments in the country by organising talks and social events. We also reach out to the growing number of Kenyans living in the United Kingdom.

Over the years, we have been addressed by Kenya government officials, British diplomats, charity organisers, authors and historians. The highlights of our year are the Annual Lunch and the Summer Garden Party.

The Society is a non-political, non-governmental organisation. As a not-for-profit, it is run by a committee of volunteers. See our current Committee.

Those who have drunk from the waters of Africa will have it running through their veins for the rest of their life.
