Humphrey Paton

Humphrey was born in Surrey, UK and has lived in central London for much of his life.  He was educated at schools in London, Sussex and Winchester.  He attended Beijing Language and Culture University and Peking University in Beijing, and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei before graduating from Pembroke College University of Oxford in Chinese studies.  He is currently studying for a master’s degree in law.

After leaving university he has worked in a number of different fields as a paralegal for a London based criminal law firm, a trademark assistant for a Macao based law firm, a social media assistant for a social media company, and as a business development associate at a leading UK payments company.  Humphrey has also been involved in business development in the UK university sector bringing overseas students to universities in the UK.

His interest in Kenya developed from family connections. He has friends involved with business in Kenya ranging from banking to tea.  Another friend supports Save the Elephants a well-known charity that seeks to secure a future for elephants and to sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places they live.

Humphrey hopes he can use his skills and competencies to add value to the Kenya Society in his new role building on the existing strong foundation.  He is excited by the strong program of events that Kenya Society is planning and draws his inspiration from the wide range of speakers who have previously attended the Kenya Society including Kenya government officials, British diplomats, charity organisers, authors, conservationists, business leaders and historians.
