Pamela CHESIRE
Pamela joined the Kenya Society Committee as Honorary Secretary in November 2016. Her role has developed and is currently the outgoing Executive Director and is leading the transition of a new team of volunteers to manage the Secretariat workstreams she led: membership, events, partnerships, sponsorship and digital. She brings with her several years of management experience at leading multinational organisations in natural resources and international development sectors in the UK and Africa respectively.
Pamela studied in the UK obtaining a Masters in Marketing and Postgraduate Diploma in E-Business Management. She is keen to utilise her skills and competencies to support the Chairman and work with the Executive Committee to deliver the society’s strategic ambitions whilst delivering on its obligations to the membership.
She views the function of the Society as providing an informative, collaborative, sociable and impactful platform for Kenyans and friends of Kenya to interact and deliberate on matters dear to their hearts concerning Kenya. In addition, the Society is a valuable partner in promoting Kenya’s interests in the UK through deepening partnerships, nurturing intercultural understanding, promoting trade linkages and investment opportunities. A key enabler will be hosting a range of events and using appropriate technology driven channels to effectively communicate and engage with members and other collaborates.
Pamela is passionate about education, and has set up an Independent Schools advisory service that helps families from Africa find suitable boarding schools for their children in the UK. She also sits on the Inclusion and Diversity Committee at a leading independent boarding school. In her spare time, Pamela can be found volunteering at the various school events, her local parish church (formerly Churchwarden) and exploring the fascinating historical and cultural attractions in London. Some of her interests include athletics, wildlife, photography, fashion, classical music, art, walking and sharing a fine pot of Kenyan tea with friends
