Education Events & NEWS

Greetings Kenya Society UK Members,

We hope you are all keeping well. We are writing to inform you about three exciting upcoming events related to education and East Africa taking place over the next few months.

On Wednesday, 28 February 2024, Nottingham Trent University will be hosting the launch of its first Annual NTU Eastern Africa Centre Symposium. The symposium aims to bring together educators, researchers, policymakers and students to discuss current issues and approaches to ‘Inclusive Research Evidence for Innovation & Change in Africa’. There will be panel sessions throughout the day. All are welcome to attend, though spaces are limited.

Applications for the 2024/25 AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme are now open. This prestigious programme offers an opportunity for African researchers to enrich their networks and build collaboration with Oxford-based scholars. The Africa Oxford Initiative will host a virtual information session about the Fellowship Programme tomorrow, 27 February 2024. The session will be live streamed on YouTube from 5:00 pm GMT

Lastly, the University of Warwick will be hosting its annual Africa Summit for the first time since the pandemic from 2 - 3 March 2024. This year's theme is “Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu”, a Zulu maxim that eloquently translates to "I am because you are". Registration is now open for the summit, which has a stellar line-up including the First Lady of Sierra Leone.

We encourage all members to consider attending one or more of these great opportunities to connect with colleagues, learn about the latest research and ideas, and help foster stronger education links between the UK and Kenya.

Warm regards,

PR and Communications Team
